Like a loving parent changes a dirty diaper, you can change your life. If you think your life has soiled itself, it makes perfect sense to change it. As you go about changing your life, you do it in a spirit of compassion. You don’t blame yourself for having created a mess, you just take a look at the mess, peel it away and throw it out.
You are a beautiful baby just going about your business. Your life story and your sense of yourself is like the diaper that fills up with all kinds of ideas about what you are or should be. When carried around too long, those ideas start to stink. That’s when you know it’s time for a change.
Changing your life does not have to involve a radical outward transformation. You don’t need to shave your head and go live on a mountain. You just need to see yourself as a beautiful baby who deserves love and compassion. You can see everybody around you as babies too, many stuck in their own soiled selves. A baby’s routine doesn’t change with its diaper, it goes right back to doing its baby thing, only more comfortably.
You will need to change your life over and over again. Eventually, you will learn to use the potty and have no more use for your diaper.
