You are Here

Every experience is an opportunity for mindfulness. When you are lost in the zoo, you can go to an information kiosk and see a map with a marker saying, “You Are Here”.  With mindfulness, your breath is that marker. Whenever you are getting lost in time, regretting the past or fearing the future, you just need to breathe deeply and remind yourself that you are here. It is also helpful to remember that here is the only place there is and it can be wonderful. When you feel yourself getting lost in your thoughts, unconsciously filling your body with tension, pay close attention to what you are doing. Breathe in and out and feel the tension ease. Here is only how it is and it can’t be any other way. When, you accept that, here is amazing.
