Assume You’re Awesome

Take a moment and think about what you are. Think deeply about what you know about yourself. Think about how you fit in with the world. Think about why you were born. Think about what you were before you were born. Think about all the amazing things you’ve accomplished that bring you great pride. Think about all the things you’ve done that you wish you could have back, those things that cause you great shame. Think about how much of your life is within your control. Think about how much of your life is beyond your control. Think about things that have happened to you that are completely unfair. Think about privileges that you have that other’s don’t. Think about privileges that others have that you don’t. Think about all the things you’ve worked hard for and you have because you deserve them. Think about all the things that have been given to you trough no effort on your part. Think about all the hardships you have endured because of things you have done. Think about all the hardships that have befallen you, which had nothing to do with what you have done. Think about your ability to think about you. Think about your body. Think about your breath. Breathe.

You are kind of complicated. Life is kind of complicated. It is difficult to know exactly what is right and what is wrong. It is hard to know what is good and bad. It is hard to know where you fit into the world. When you think about what you are, you think about your past actions, your family, your friends, what you do. You think about your body, its outward appearance, its inward functioning, its thinking, your thinking, your breathing. When you breathe, the oxygen in the air goes into you and the carbon in your body goes out. The number of trees and cars and factories in your neighborhood affects the quality of the air that becomes you. When you think about what you are, its hard to know where you stop and not you takes over.

When you take a moment to think about what your are, you immediately know that you are you. When you think deeply about what you are, you stop knowing so much. There is a lot going on that makes up you. All that is going on is a spectacular event, constantly changing. Energy is busy transforming into mass and mass into energy, not only in the middle of the sun and stars, but in the cells of your body. When you think about what your are, and what you do, you may gravitate toward feelings of guilt and shame, and somehow imagine that you are not what you should be. Its complicated to figure out what you are. Until you know, you should assume you’re awesome. The evidence is all around you.
