You can think about what changed to improve your mood. Most of all, you can experience your happiness and learn to expect that feeling. To sustain happiness, you can use your experience of sadness to help others who are sad. You will be able to empathize with the sadness and you can practice compassion.
Although it is hard to accomplish anything when you are depressed, when it loosens its grip, you have a wonderful opportunity. When the rain stops, you build a shelter, you get an umbrella.
